The amount of mortgages approved by UK banks experienced a 20 month low in November according to figures. The loans used for house purchases have seen a limited amount handed out, stifling the housing market which has had a very sluggish end to the year.

According to the British Bankers’ Association (BBA) only 29,991 home loans were approved in November, making it officially a 20 month low for mortgages.
