The Ministry of Defence has come under fire for wasting billions of pounds on defence projects, some of which haven’t even been used yet. In what’s been called ‘astonishing inefficiency’, MP’s have warned the department could face cuts of £36 billion over the next 10 years.
Taking into consideration the Eurofighter Typhoon which took 19 years to build, or the three Chinook aircrafts that have been sat in a hangar in Britain since 2004 because the MoD didn’t buy the software codes from Boeing, there are hundreds of millions of pounds being wasted however defence secretary Liam Fox claims the Ministry of Defence want to stop money being wasted.
Other projects are running years late or have been decommissioned following the recent defence spending review.
